Summer School

Summer programs for academic learning and enrichment help students boost their well-being, expand their learning and remain engaged with peers. 4J is providing several summer learning programs for selected students.
High school & transition programs:

  • Summer Bridge high school orientation (all incoming ninth graders) | August 5-9

  • Summer Intensive Courses for students entering grades 9–12 (registration open) | July 8-August 9

  • Summer High School Credit Recovery (by invitation only) | July 8-August 15

Free Meals

4J will provide free breakfast and lunches at three school sites for all youth 18 years old and younger from Monday, July 8, through Friday, August 9. Breakfast will be served from 8:30—9 a.m. and lunches will be available from 12:30—1 p.m. at the following four schools:

  • Holt Elementary School, 770 Calvin St.
  •    
  • River Road / El Camino del Río Dual Immersion Elementary School, 120 W. Hilliard Ave.
  •    
  • Roosevelt Middle School, 500 E. 24th Ave.
Meals must be eaten on-site; no grab-and-go-meals are available at this time.
FOOD for Lane County also will provide free summer meals at numerous parks community sites from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. from Monday, June 24, through Friday, August 23. A full list of meals sites can be found on the FOOD for Lane County website.  

School Office/Health Center Summer Schedules 

Most district offices are open year-round. High school offices remain open through the summer but operate on reduced hours. Elementary school offices, middle school offices, and school-based health centers are closed for most of the summer and reopen in August. (2024–25 school calendar). 4J’s website has information about enrolling your student during the summer.
School Office Summer Hours 
  •     
  • High Schools: Open all summer, M-Th 9-12 & 1-3
  •    
  • Middle Schools: Last day is June 26. School secretaries return July 27. Please check your school for open times.
  •    
  • Elementary Schools: Last day is June 25. School offices reopen with regular hours on August 18.

District providing continuing education, enrichment, and healthy meals this summer
